Maison Prosper Maufoux wins Terre de Vins wine tourism trophy with the renovation of Château de Saint-Aubin
Saint-Aubin has a special place in the world of Burgundy whites. Renowned for their refinement, its Chardonnays are found on the finest tables. But compared to its cousins Chassagne, Puligny and Meursault, this Côte de Beaune village stands out for its discretion.
This is the paradox of Château de Saint-Aubin, owned by the Piffaut family (Veuve Ambal) since 2015. The object of extensive renovation work in 2018, the building now stands out for the purity of its immaculate façade and its Burgundy stone courtyard of honor, in harmony with the color of the appellation.
Inside, the charm is unostentatious. The luxury here is simplicity, calm, raw materials and, above all, space. The spacious rooms overlook the vineyards of Domaine Prosper Maufoux, the local winery. Visitors are invited to discover these wines (from Saint-Aubin in particular, but also from the whole of Burgundy) through a variety of tasting tours.
Recently, a restaurant, Le Prosper, has been added to the estate. It takes the form and location of an old-fashioned greenhouse, with a glass roof offering a bird's-eye view of the vineyards.
