A wine estate on the ‘Route des Grands Crus’ in the Côte d’Or
Once the property of the Countess of Trébon, a descendant of one of Louis XIV’s Musketeers, the Château offers its guests over 300 years of history in Burgundy. The building, and the Maison Prosper Maufoux, today belong to the Piffaut family, heirs to a two-hundred-year-old tradition of family viticulture in Burgundy.
South of Beaune, in the heart of the vineyards on the ‘Route des Grands Crus’ , the Prosper Maufoux wine estate at Château de Saint-Aubin is uniquely placed in the world-famous Côte des Blancs.
Its 9 hectares of vines, mainly Chardonnay, are cultivated using sustainable and responsible methods.
The Clos du Château, in the appellation Saint-Aubin Premier Cru, and the adjoining parcels, are all terroirs of excellence which give rise to wines of exception.

THE ALLIANCE OF THE TERROIR AND THE HAND OF MAN
The Château de Saint-Aubin vineyards are managed by the Maison Prosper Maufoux, whose vats and cellars lie under the château building. All the wines produced and tasted at Château de Saint-Aubin carry the name of this Great Burgundy Wine House, founded in 1860, which is also owned by the Piffaut family.
Prosper Maufoux, a historic wine producer in Burgundy, crafts its fine wines according to a rigorous philosophy of sustainable viticulture. The winemaking team allows each “Climat” to fully express its own personality, with the objective of revealing the terroir, brought to light simply by the lightest of touches. The grapes are delicately vinified, with the minimum of intervention, to bring out the true expression of the fruit. A period of ageing polishes and completes the work of winemaking for these wines that are reputed for their elegance and their freshness, all in energy and tension.
The marriage of these exceptional terroirs with skills that respect nature, enables Prosper Maufoux to propose, at Château de Saint-Aubin, a palette of exceptional white Burgundies from amongst the most sought-after appellations : Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, Meursault Premier Cru, Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru and Saint-Aubin Premier Cru.
